By Sam Fairbanks, Researcher and Evaluator, Expert Citizens CIC
I first heard about Expert Citizens when I was the successful applicant for a temporary position with VOICES. As a partner of VOICES, I got to work closely with Expert Citizens and was able to see the fantastic work they do. It was towards the end of that contract that a role within Expert Citizens for a Research and Evaluator came available, I took the chance, applied and was very happy to be successful.
As an Evaluator I am part of the INSIGHT Evaluation Programme which uses an appreciative enquiry model to seek out best and positive practice within services in Stoke-on-Trent and beyond, we then reflect our findings back to services to encourage positive change. I also play an active part in Housing First, conducting interviews with customers and producing data.
My job roles are: promoting the INSIGHT Awards and Conference, coordination of the Conference and Awards, conducting INSIGHT evaluations and other Research, planning and gathering customer and stakeholder feedback, evaluating and analysing information including data, producing written reports and providing oral feedback, and building on our digital platform.
Since starting my role I’ve worked with Housing First, producing data and customer interviews. I have travelled during this role and spoke at many workshops Expert Citizens have co-produced. I’ve just started a level three leadership and management course. I’ve completed multiple INSIGHT evaluation reports of many businesses through Stoke-on-Trent and I attended last year’s INSIGHT Awards and Conference. This year, I am the INSIGHT coordinator for the National INSIGHT Conference and Awards 2021.
